Christmas story

Once upon a time, there was a boy who didn´t believe in Christmas. His name was John. One day, John was putting up the Christmas tree and setting up the nativity scene with his little sister. She believed in Christmas.When they finished, they went out to buy a turkey for the Christmas dinner, but  it was really expensive.

On 24 December the entire family gathered. Everything was going as planned, but John was not feeling very well and he went to the bathroom. He passed next to the Nativity Scene and he realised that baby Jesus had disappeared. He discovered that the soldiers of Herod's castle had been misplaced.

After dinner, John went to bed very worried. The next morning he woke up thinking about what happened the previous night. He rushed downstairs to have a look at the Nativity Scene. There, he took one soldier to place it in a different part of the scene when suddenly, a burst of Christmas magic transported him to the Nativity Scene, transforming him into a figure. He had a mission: he had to find out who had kidnapped baby  Jesus.

THE THREE KINGS

What we know about the three kings: They came from the East, guided by a star which led them to Belén. There, they were looking for baby Jesus, who had just been born. The three kings offered gold, incense and myrrh (thanks to that, we know that there were three of them). Before that, they found Herodes who wanted to know where Jesus had been born and kill him. The story tell us that an angel appeared and told to the three kings what Herodes wanted to do.

AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR EVERYONE IS HAPPY WITH A CHRISTMAS SPIRIT.ALL THE FAMILIES MEET IN THEIR HOMES TO HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS TIME. FOR SOME KIDS CHRISTMAS MEANS HAVING PRESENTS FROM SANTA CLAUS AND IN SOME COUNTRIES THEY ADD THE THREE KINGS.FOR THE PARENTS IT MEANS TO BUY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS TO MAKE  THEIR KIDS HAPPY. ON SOME DAYS THE FAMILIES HAVE DINNER TOGETHER WITH A LOT OF FOOD ON SOME SPECIAL CHRISTMAS DAYS  THE SNOW IS THE BEST NEWS TO DO SPORT AT CHRISTMAS. WE CAN DO SPORTS LIKE SKIING, AN ACTIVITY LIKE THROWING BALLS AND HAVING FUN...ETC. BUT MOST OF ALL AT CHRISTMAS. PEOPLE LIKE TO DECORATE THEIR HOUSES AND SOME OF THEM MAKE SOME GOOD CREATIONS:

                           CHRISTMAS.
THE TYPICAL CHRISTMAS FOOD IS TURRON, CHRISTMAS SWEETS, SEAFOOD...ETC.
TO FINISH THIS WORK WE WISH EVERYBODY A MERRY CHRISTMAS

What is Christmas without  christmas decorations?
Christmas decorations are one of the most important things about this time of the year!
They are not only in our houses, they are everywhere. Fashion changes as far as decorations...


      

But some people get crazy with it...


                                         


and at christmas there is also a lot of wondeful food and of course we can´t forget about christmas sweets; such as nougat, shortbread, marzipan...
There´s a typical habit that consists of people leaving  a glass of milk with cookies for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and for the Three wise men on twelfth night.

How does the world celebrate Christmas?

SPAIN: The streets are lit up with colourful lights. There are many shops with typical Christmas products, all the family get together on Christmas  Eve. The typical dishes are lamb, turkey, walnuts,  Christmas sweets (turron, marzipan...). On New year Eve, at five to twelve Spanish people get ready to eat 12 grapes, one after each stroke of the bell.

GERMANY: After the Christmas Eve´s dinner, the children wait for  the presents nervously, but they can´t open them before they sing the traditional carol "Silent night".

BELGIUM: Their habit is going ice-skating after the typical family dinner. Saitnt Nicolas visits the children of the city on the 4 of December to check if they have been good or bad.

ITALY: On  New year's Eve, "Notte di Capodanno", it's typical to go  to discos after eating a lentil dish. Women wear red to be lucky during the year.

Why does everybody love Christmas?

At this time of the year people are so excited buying lots of presents and most of them seem to be really happy. 

On 24th December it's typical to have dinner with your family and share good moments with the ones you love. In some houses Santa Claus brings presents to the children that have had a good behavior during all the year. That's why on Christmas Day, a lot of boys and girls wake up really early to see what Santa left for them under the Christmas tree.

GTA V

SILVER LINING PLAYBOOK

Silver Lining Playbook/ El Lado Bueno De Las Cosas

This is a new american  movie based on a novel written by Mathew Quick. The movie is directed by David O.  Russell. It has been nominated to the Oscars. The principals actors were Jennifer Lawrence as Tiffany and Bradly Cooper as Pat JR. 
In english this novel is called The Silver Lining Playbook. Literally it's a book that shows you the good things in  bad situations. "Every black cloud has a silver lining". That's why in spain is called "el lado bueno de las cosas". 
Summary

The two protagonists (Pat and Tiffany)  have a mental disease: They are bipolar(have two poles) people. Tiffany started having this disease when her husband died. Pat has always been bipolar but he had dicovered this after hurting his wife secret lover. Pat's wife gave him an restraining order. He was very sad. He wanted to give a card to her but he couldn't so he asked tiffany because her sister is a very good friend of her. In return Pat will have to dance with Tiffany in a dancing contest. 

A healthy diet

We are going to give you ten habits to live healthily:
1.Always eat breakfast
2.Eat fruit and vegetables
3.Walk or do exercise everyday
4.Always carry  a bottle of water.
5.Always have carbohydrates and proteins together.

If you do all these habits you will have a healthy life. 
You also have to be careful with the quantity of food that you eat, and avoid junk food.




You have to balance carbohydrates, proteins, vegetables and fruit, sweets, proteins...

Causes of the United States Civil War

Before the 1861 the North of  U.S.A and the South  were separated because of slavery ; the South wanted slaves to work in the plantations of tobacco, cotton etc. They were usually black slaves. The north part had a lot of factories and a lot of industries, all the people worked and were paid .

The president Abraham Lincoln was the leader of the North part / the union , the leader of the south part / the confederacy was Jefferson Davis .

The union wanted to stop slavery but south didn't so the civil war started .

Louisa May Alcott

We are going to write about Louisa May Alcott, she's the writer of Little Women; we are reading this book this year.
We hope you enjoy our post.

Louisa May Alcott was born in Germantown,Pennsylvania, on 29 November 1832.She had three sisters and she was the second.She grew up in Concord, Massachusetts.Her father was a philosopher and a teacher, and taught his daughters at home.

Some of he Alcott family friends were famous writers like Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

When Louisa was a young woman she worked as a governess, servant, teacher and writer to help her family.

Her first successful book was Little Women; here are some other books:
-Little Men   -Jo's Men    -Hospital Sketches   -Rose in bloom   -An Old-Fashioned Girl -Eight Cousins and collections of short stories.

She died in Boston 6 of March 1888 and is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cementery in Concord.

BANSHEE.
 In legend, a banshee is a fairy woman who begins to wail if someone is about to die. In Scottish Gaelic mythology she is known as the bean sìth and she is seen washing the blood-stained clothes or armour of those who are about to die. When you hear her scream  it means that you´re going to die. And when you are death she brush you.










CERBERO

It' s a dog of the mythology, it has 3 heads and he is the pet of the devil. It's very big, fast and strong. But Hercules defeat it. It has a tail like a snake.

LITTLE WOMEN

We are going to explain the book of Little women because we are reading it and
we are going to write  an essay.

This is a summary of the book:
Meg, Josephine, Amy and Beth are the little women who, together with their mother, keep the home fires burning while their preacher father serves with the Union army during the civil war. Meg, the oldest, is a second mother to the troupe while "Jo", the tomboy, takes on the role of man of the house. Amy likes good things in life, and Beth, the youngest and frailest of the four, seeks comfort in gentle music. A simple tale of four young girls coming to womanhood.

CARNIVAL!!! 2013

It was Friday, the 8th  of February. Carnival arrived at our school.

The first hour, we were rehearsing  for our dance and we had it very well!After that, we played videogames in the classrooms and also we could play sports outside. There was a newsagents' and all the people were buying food and coca-cola. At 11 a.m. the Carnival Festival of Primary started in this order:
      Nursery school, First, second, third, forth, fifth and finally sixth.They  were very good!!At 12:30 a.m we went to the playground to see a match of teachers against students. After that, we changed our clothes into costumes!!And the fesival of secundary started.
The first one was our class (first of ESO), after us, the same order as primary.The performance of first of baccalaureate was brilliant they imitated some teachers of secondary.We also did a flashmob and the teachers were surprised. Finally when the festival finished we went home to enjoy our Carnival Holidays.

 A reality show is a TV program that presents real protagonists of the current society, telling us their problems.There are many different types of realities because the society where we live has got many different problems and impossible dreams.

The realities have got many advantages, the main one , they're funny and many  people like them, in consequence, the audience is high. In addition, the contestants sometimes become famous and win a lot of money.

On the other hand, they also have a lot of disadvantages, the realities produce many riots and discussions between the audience and the contestants and also among the contestants. They also make society more ignorant.

In this essay we are talking about the using of the internet, which has been for a very short time in our lives.

The advantages of using the internet are that it makes communication much easier. In addition, you can play games with other people all over the world, and also chat with them instantly using social networks, such as facebook, twitter, tuenti, myspace (where you can upload blogs and news). Besides, you can meet people to date them in E-Darling, Meetic...

On the other hand, there is no privacy and there are a lot of bad people on the net. Moreover,  it can be addictive and a many people can't live without using it every day and every hour.

To sum up, it has for us more advantages than disanvantages and we love using it and having an easier life.

Computers, teachers of the future?

 Nowadays we don't use so many computers,  ¿Will  computers substitute teachers in the future?

1- Advantages:
    - they are very practical.
    - you can use the internet in class
    - we don't waste paper 

2- Disadvantages:
    - if you forget to save,  you will lose all your work.
    - a lot of children won't pay attention 
    - a lot of teachers will be unemployed

I think it would be better using computers for studying because children like computers.

ROBOTS

Nowadays technology is very advanced, now we have small circular robots that can hoover or scrub our house, we also have robots that can cook for us, like the thermomix. The washing machine is also a robot that washes our clothes.
The advantages of this are that now housewives dont have to clean the house, they can sit on the sofa and watch how the robots do the job. But the disadvantages are that one day robots might rebel against us and destroy all the humans.

We are going to talk about the advantages an disadvantages of video games. Many people have a lot of free time, and if they are bored they play video games, the people play a lot of time and in fact video games have advantages and disadvantages:

• Advantages: you can have a good time playing these games with your friends,besides they games are very  entertaining for everybody.

• On the other hand, they are expensive :(, some people are all the day playing video games, and they don't sleep, when the children are playing, and the mother calls them,   they ignore her. That's not good.

Mobile phones

Nowadays, everybody have mobile phones and mos people use it a lot.

Using mobile phones helps people to comunicate with other people. In addition, people use it to enter the social networks and enter in internet. Perhaps the greatest advantages is that you can comunicate with another person in that moment , instead of going to them.

On the other hand, many people feel that mobile phones distract students while they are doing homework, studying.  And also mobile phones make you waste time. In fact , some even think that they are addictive and useless.

To sum up, there are both advantages and disadvantages to mobile phones. We believe that mobile phones are very useful.

Mobiles phones

Many people are the 24 hours of the  day with the mobile phone, chatting, surfing the internet... Because they want to tell something to someone on the social networks. That can be dangerous.

The advantages of the mobile phone are that you can have a call, but now a days the phone is not only to make and receive calls but also it´s for surfing the net, take photos and chatting.

On  the other hand the mobiles are good if you want to make a call, but They can be a distraction while you are studying or doing something important.

To sum up, there are both advantages and disavantages with mobile phones, it is good to use them but with a limit. I believe that it can be a good thing as long as people do not spend all day with the phone.

Computer Games

Computer games are entretaiment and a lot of people enjoy them. In fact, they can be addictive and may cause problems inpeople's social lives.

 Computer games are very good to play alone or with other people, besides they are cheap.

On the other hand games are addictive and some of them are too expensive.

To sum up, games are good because there are exciting, but you mustn't play too much because they can cause problems.
